What is crossFit?
CrossFit is a strength and conditioning fitness methodology which is not sport-specific and therefore promotes a broad and general overall physical fitness.
Through maintaining proficiency in each of the 10 fitness areas (cardiovascular/respiratory endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, agility, balance, coordination, and accuracy) CrossFit?s aim is to create the quintessential athlete.
Because the CrossFit methodology focuses on all of these areas its use is widespread, it allows the same basic program and techniques to be used across the board simply by changing the intensity of the exercise. This flexibility and grounding in effective fitness means it is currently utilized by various police academies and military / Tactical units worldwide as well as being used by new mums looking to regain their shape and fitness and by those recovering from conditions such as heart disease. If you are committed then simply by altering the intensity of the program we can get you to the peak condition you are aiming for.
What happens in class?
Your first FREE sessions (we are currently offering 2 weeks free taster sessions) will allow us to introduce you to the CrossFit program and also gain an understanding of exactly what you are looking to achieve. From that point on your commitment will be key! Each session will involve a new Work Out of the Day (WOD) which you can find on our site or when you get to class, you can also link to the CrossFit.com site to find a complete archive of all WOD?s along with helpful videos explaining each technique.
Once you have the WOD its time to start. You will first be asked to perform your warm up which is decided by the level you are currently working at. Its then down to our qualified trainer to walk you through the WOD and get you started. Throughout your workout you can expect the trainer to be monitoring your technique and pushing you to achieve that little bit more. CrossFit engenders a fantastic sense of group amongst those who attend so you can also expect support and motivation from everyone.
